Caring for others has always been second nature to Sandy Loh. She gave up her career in the petrochemical industry to become a full-time caregiver for her ageing parents in 2013. Today, the Senior Therapy Assistant at the NTUC Health Nursing Home in Jurong West, conducts group exercises and one-to-one therapy sessions with the residents.

In 2018, at the age of 60, Wendy Wong took a bold leap of faith to pursue a career in the community care sector. She kick-started her journey with a three-month advanced eldercare course and is now, a Residential Care Associate at Bukit Batok Care Home.

Since young, NUS Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies third year student Eddie Hee had a thing for science. When he chose to pursue a diploma in biomedical science, it came as no surprise to most. However, his choice of pursuing a nursing degree had its own challenges.

Bettering lives in the community

It was not an easy decision to leave a cushy job in the banking industry. Taking the plunge in 2006, Staff Nurse Django Satria joined Ren Ci Community Hospital and was awarded the Community Care Manpower Development Award to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Gerontology) in Nanyang Polytechnic!
